Here are five points on the practice:

1. New York Spine Institute’s founder, Dr. de Moura, also serves as the practice’s medical director. After observing his first spine surgery at age 15, Dr. de Moura opted to follow his father’s path as an orthopedic surgeon, and has since dedicated his career to being a leader and innovator in the orthopedic spine field.

2. Since 1996, Dr. de Moura has served Long Island residents after opening his first New York Spine Institute location in Westbury. New York Spine Institute has since expanded to 11 locations.

3. At the center, providers treat conditions include sciatica, scoliosis, spinal osteoporosis, pediatric and adult deformities of the spine, spinal tumors, traumatic injuries, herniated discs and spinal infections.

4. New York Spine Institute has specialists who perform artificial disc replacements, and were among the first in the region to use the technique for managing disc herniation and degeneration.

5. New York Spine Institute’s pain management team includes professionals from North American Partners in Anesthesia, who are fellowship-trained in sports medicine and spine care.
