Here are five highlights:
1. If a claimant is flagged as at-risk for opioid abuse, the claimant will undergo a full panel drug screening, which will provide the necessary objective data on the proper or improper opioid consumption.
2. The strategic collaboration is part of IPS’s overall effort to minimize workers compensation prescription pain management abuse, misuse and addiction with opioids.
3. IPS coordinates obtaining samples, lab testing and delivering the results to patients, which maintains the quality and integrity of the samples being tested.
4. To curb opioid abuse, IPS utilizes preventative measures such as relevant laboratory testing in advance of medicating workers who have been injured on the job as well as interval monitoring targeted toward each injured worker’s abuse potential.
5. IPS gives workers compensation pharmacy benefit management and ancillary services to self-insured employers and third party administrators.
