Here are five things to know about the new appointee:
1. Dr. Schwab will succeed Frank Cammisa, MD, who has served in the position for several years.
2. Dr. Schwab comes to Hospital for Special Surgery from New York University’s Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he was chief of spinal deformity.
3. The new leadership will take effect Aug. 1.
4. Dr. Schwab earned his medical degree at Columbia University and has more than 20 years of experience in research.
5. Throughout his career, Dr. Schwab has achieved several grants for his research and other recognitions, as well as more than 180 publications.
