Dr. Hunt is a third-year neurosurgery resident at Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System, which has been asking for PPE donations amidst a projected spike in COVID-19 patients at its facilities.
She used her sewing skills to produce surgical masks from vacuum cleaner bags, strips of fabric and shoe laces.
The masks help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
They can be washed and reused.
