Here are five things to know:
1. Global Spine Outreach strives to help children with spinal deformities in underserved populations.
2. Surgeons, health specialists and volunteers have visited Cali, Colombia, Mexico and Poland to perform surgeries and train local surgeons.
3. The nonprofit has treated 80 patients surgically and seen 344 patients in clinics. The group expects to treat 40 more patients before the end of the year.
4. Orthopedic surgeon Anthony Rinella, MD, is a cofounder of the nonprofit and will present at the gala.
5. Global Spine Outreach was founded in 2013 by three orthopedic spine surgeons.
