Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Health’s Pain Management Center in Dyer (Ind.) is now offering the Via Disc NP procedure for patients with chronic low back pain caused by spinal disc degeneration, according to an Aug. 4 Northwest Indiana Business Magazine report.

Performed by Prasanth Nuthakki, MD, the minimally invasive treatment uses processed donor disc tissue, injected as a gel, to help restore the spine’s cushioning and improve function. It is done under local anesthesia at the clinic.

Dr. Nuthakki said most patients see improvement within six weeks, making the procedure a potential alternative to steroid injections or surgery.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
