Kris Bryant, an outfielder for the Colorado Rockies and former National League MVP with the Chicago Cubs, is scheduled to undergo an ablation procedure on his back, according to a May 7 article on mlb.com

Mr. Bryant has been receiving care from orthopedic spine surgeon Robert Watkins, MD, a specialist at Watkins Spine in Marina Del Rey, Calif. While Mr. Bryant will fly to Los Angeles for the procedure, it will not be performed by Dr. Watkins.

The procedure is expected to help Mr. Bryant, who suffers from chronic lumbar degenerative disk disease and has not been able to play in a game since April 12. He will begin physical therapy immediately following the procedure, but there is no timeline for his return to the field.
