Florida hospital honors late neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjiv Bhatia

Coral Terrace, Fla.-based Nicklaus Children’s Hospital honored the late Sanjiv Bhatia, MD, by naming a local street “Dr. Sanjiv Bhatia Way,” reports Miami’s Community Newspapers.

Dr. Bhatia served as chief of the department of surgery and medical director of the operating room at NCH, as well as being a professor of clinical neurosurgery and pediatrics at Miami Leonard M. School of Medicine.

He earned his medical degree in 1980 from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, where he also completed a residency in neurosurgery. 

Upon moving to the U.S., Dr. Bhatia completed another residency in neurosurgery and pursued a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Bhatia passed away in May 2018.
