Dr. Steffee died on Aug. 16, just days before his planned 90th birthday party. In 1984, Dr. Steffee founded AcroMed, a company specializing in spinal implants.
He designed and patented many orthopedic tools and began Steffee Orthopedics, which later became Horizon Orthopedics.
Dr. Steffee died as a result of a fall from a ladder, according to the report.
