Here are five things to know:
1. Jessica Shellock, MD, of Texas Back Institute, implanted the device at Texas Health Plano. James Billys, MD, of Florida Orthopaedic Institute in North Tampa also implanted the device at Florida Hospital Carrollwood in Tampa.
2. The MIDLINE II-Ti device is designed with Ti-ACTIVE, a multidimensional, texturized titanium coating to optimize topography for cellular attachment and proliferation.
3. The system is a no-profile anterior lumbar integrated interbody system for patients with degenerative pathologies of the lumbar spine.
4. Dr. Shellock praised the system’s “immediate stability of the device” as well as the visibility of the titanium coating on postoperative imaging.
5. MIDLINE II-Ti has similar placement as the PEEK cage.
