The Cervical Spine Research Society elected new officers for the 2016-2017 year:

Jeffrey C. Wang, MD: President-elect
Alexander Vaccaro, MD, PhD: Vice President
Christopher I. Shaffrey, MD: Treasurer
Rick Sasso, MD: Secretary

 

The American Hospital Association will honor orthopedic spine surgeon James N. Weinstein, DO, with the Justin Ford Kimball Innovators Award on May 8.

 

The International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery awarded Morgan Lorio, MD, the first Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Lorio is a spine surgeon at Neuro-Spine Solutions in Bristol, Tenn.

 

A research team headed by Kern Singh, MD, of Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, won “Best Poster” at the ISASS Annual Meeting in Boca Raton, Fla.

 

Alejandro J. Betancourt, MD, founding member of Harlingen (Texas) Spine and Neurosurgical Institute, earned recognition as a 2017 Top Doctor in Harlingen.
