Dr. Steven Kalkanis to take over reins as CEO of Henry Ford Medical Group

Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System has chosen neurosurgeon Steven Kalkanis, MD, to become CEO of Henry Ford Medical Group, effective Jan. 1, 2020.

Dr. Kalkanis succeeds William Conway, MD, who is stepping down after more than four decades with the health system.

He joined Henry Ford in 2004 and is chair of the system’s department of neurosurgery.

As CEO, Dr. Kalkanis will be responsible for clinical performance across 40 specialties and provide strategic leadership and direction to researchers and physicians at the 1,900-member group. 

He will also serve as Henry Ford’s senior vice president and chief academic officer, where he will look to advance the system’s research and education programs as well as its population health and accountable care initiatives.
