Dr. Garfin is the chief of spine surgery and department chair of orthopedic surgery at University of California San Diego. During his career, he has been in involved in the development and clinical trials of techniques and devices serving the advancement of spine surgery.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. He completed his internship and residency at the University of California San Diego. He completed his spinal disorder fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
