Dr. Sang-Ho Lee awarded Parviz Kambin award for endoscopic spine surgery at NASS meeting: 5 highlights

Sang-Ho Lee, MD, chairman of Wooridul Spine Hospital in Korea, received the Parviz Kambin Award at the North American Spine Society meeting in October, according to Korea IT Times.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. Dr. Lee received the honor for his excellence in endoscopic spinal surgery.

 

2. The first Asian recipient of the award, Dr. Lee created the first laser-assisted endoscopic technique for herniated disc surgery.

 

3. He successfully removes herniated disc fragments while protecting surrounding tissues, bones and muscles.

 

4. The Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Joimax, a German endoscopic spinal technology developer, chooses the recipients of the Parviz Kambin Award.

 

5. Previous winners include Parviz Kambin, MD, and Anthony Yeung, MD, from the United States, Dr. Michael Schubert from Germany, and Dr. Menno Iprenburg from the Netherlands.
