Dr. Sandeep Mittal appointed Wayne State University School of Medicine neurosurgery chair: 5 things to know

Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit named Sandeep Mittal, MD, chairman of the department of neurosurgery, according to Oakland Press Business.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Murali Guthikonda, MD, held the position of department chair before Dr. Mittal’s appointment.

 

2. Dr. Mittal has been with the WSU neurosurgery department since 2006.

 

3. A co-director of the WSU/Detroit Medical Center Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Dr. Mittal is also co-director of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Multidisciplinary Neuro-Oncology Program.

 

4. Dr. Mittal earned his medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

 

5. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada.
