Dr. Said Osman performs new endoscopic lamino-foraminoplasty surgery: 4 highlights

Said Osman, MD, of Frederick, Md.-based American Spine, performed the first endoscope lamino-foraminoplasty surgery with decompression of the nerve root.

Here are four highlights:

 

1. The procedure involves Amendia’s iO-Flex system.

 

2. Dr. Osman preformed the procedure on a 61-year-old patient who experienced a disc herniation on his lumbar spine.

 

3. Dr. Osman passed the Endoflex system from the spinal canal into the foramen. He compelted laminoplasty and foraminoplasty by shaving the facet joint, allowing the nerve root more room, which decreased the pressure.

 

4. The patient left three hours after the surgery.
