Dr. Detwiler, a neurosurgeon, chairs the physician leadership council at University of Texas Health Tyler, according to a July 26 news release. He also serves as chair of the physician roundtable of Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services.

Under his leadership, he’s helped expand residency programs at UT Health Tyler and has advocated for making high-quality healthcare more accessible.

“It’s really about a team,” Julie Philley, MD, executive vice president for health affairs at UT Health Tyler said. “He brings people together, he listens, he acts, he’s patient, he’s kind and above all else he has a vision that is a shared vision by the institution and the region at large.”
