Dr. Haglund traveled with his team for the week-long event providing free training for local physicians and performed surgery for patients in need. There were at least 22 people who underwent surgery during his trip. He fundraised and used his own money to improve the local hospital’s neurosurgery capacity.
Dr. Haglund has a clinical interest in epilepsy surgery, cervical spine disease, herniated discs, minimally invasive surgery, global health and brain mapping.
According to the report, there are only six qualified neurosurgeons working in East Africa.
