Matt Miller, MD, performed Nebraska’s first minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery at Omaha-based OrthoNebraska Hospital, Arthrex said in a June 30 LinkedIn post

Dr. Miller used Arthrex’s endoscopic spine tools to perform an L5-S1 discectomy with an interlaminar approach.

“The endoscopic approach enables the next level of minimally invasive spine surgery,” Dr. Miller said in the post. “The technology allows us to make an incision smaller than a centimeter, essentially eliminating the need for muscle and soft tissue dissection. There is less bony removal needed with this technology, as well. These two components lead to decreased postoperative pain and speed up recovery.”
