Dr. Krystof Bankiewicz named CEO of Columbus Children’s Foundation

Columbus Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit biotech organization, has appointed neurosurgeon Krystof Bankiewicz, MD, PhD, president and CEO, according to an Aug. 20 news release.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Bankiewicz will lead translational research and develop pre-clinical and clinical therapeutic programs to advance treatments for children with genetic neurological disorders.

2. He is a tenured professor at The Ohio State University in Columbus and serves as director of the university’s Brain Health Performance Center.

3. Dr. Bankiewicz has cofounded several biotech companies, including MedGenesis Therapeutix, Voyager Therapeutics and Brain Neuropathy Bio. 

4. Currently, he is leading two gene therapy clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease and pediatric neurotransmitter deficiency.
