Kornelis Poelstra, MD, PhD, of The Robotic Spine Institute of Las Vegas completed his 2,000th robot-assisted spine surgery.
Dr. Poelstra has performed robot-assisted spine surgeries for more than 16 years using multiple platforms including SpineAssist, Renaissance, Mazor X, LEM, and Mako, according to a May 18 news release. He has been involved with robotics since its early clinical adoption.
“The experience gained across different robotic platforms provides valuable insight into both current capabilities and future potential,” Dr. Poelstra said in the release.
In 2025 he performed the world’s first spine surgery using a multi-arm, navigation-based robotic system.
