Dr. Poelstra completed the first human case at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, according to a Jan. 10 news release. Using BoneMRI, CT scans weren’t needed during the treatment workflow, and imaging was radiation-free.

Dr. Poelstra has been involved with clinical studies on BoneMRI, and the software provides intraoperative registration for screw trajectory planning, according to a Jan. 10 company news release.

“After several simulated planning with BoneMRI side by side with traditional CT scans, I was able to determine that the accuracy and image quality was very comparable,” Dr. Poelstra said in the release.

BoneMRI recieved FDA clearance for the lumbar spine in November.
