John Wilson, MD, is the David L. and Sally Kelly Professor and vice chair of the department of neurological surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. He joined the staff at Wake Forest in 1993 and since then has focused his practice on cerebrovascular and skull-based disorder treatment.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Wilson has experience as advisor to the North Carolina state Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee and Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee. He also served as president of the North Carolina Neurological Society and chair of the AANS and Congress of Neurological Surgeons cerebrovascular section.
Within AANS, Dr. Wilson has spent time as treasurer and has plans for his new role. “As president-elect of the organization, I will strive to serve our members and work with our great team to advance the goals of the organization at the national and international level,” Dr. Wilson said.
