Here are six points:

1. Dr. Lee said that stretching is essential for spinal health, as it improves flexibility.

2. Stretching also helps relax muscles in those people who already experience lower back pain.

3. Fewer toxins gather in the lower back and less muscle fatigue occurs with muscle relaxation.

4. While many people will feel the immediate results of stretching, those with chronic back pain may need to undergo stretching exercise for months before yielding results.

5. Stretching should involve slow movements that are held for 20 to 30 seconds, and repeated five to 10 times.

6. Dr. Lee’s Spine Center treats pain management for sports injuries, back pain, car accident injuries, fibromyalgia, neck pain, sciatic, headaches and migraines.

“Because so many people today either work in jobs that are relatively sedentary or have jobs that require them to carry heavy loads, back problems are fairly common in all corners of the population,” said Dr. Lee.
