Earlier this year, he traveled to Muscat, Oman to teach OLLIF. His next trip will take him to Ecuador, where he will teach Dr. Hazem Nicola the procedure, Inspired Spine said in a March 21 news release. Dr. Abbasi is expected to perform six trans-Kambin OLLIF cases on his trip.
“I am thrilled to be partnering with Dr. Nicola to perform these surgeries and train him in this revolutionary procedure,” Dr. Abbasi said in the release. “It’s amazing to see the positive impact this technique has on our patients, and I am honored to be a part of its introduction to South America.”
The OLLIF procedure is a minimally invasive technique that can help decrease infection rates and blood loss. Thirty surgeons are trained in the technique globally.
