Dr. Hamid Abbasi embarks on 3rd educational trip for OLLIF surgery

Hamid Abbasi, MD, PhD, will travel to India for an educational trip in minimally invasive spine surgery. 

Dr. Abbasi is a spine surgeon at Burnsville, Minn.-based Inspired Spine and pioneer of the oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion procedure, according to a July 8 news release from Inspired Spine. 

The first stop on Dr. Abbasi’s trip is to the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery India conference in Mumbai, where he will lead a cadaver lab focusing on the OLLIF technique. 

Dr. Abbasi will then collaborate with Dr. Varun Agarwal to advance spinal education and surgical training in India. 

At Dr. Agarwal’s university, Dr. Abbasi will perform live surgeries using the OLLIF technique. He will also be appointed a professor at the university, the release said.
