Ehsan Jazini, MD, of VSI in Reston, Va., is the first in the U.S. to combine Centinel Spine’s Prodisc C-Nova and C-Vivo disc replacement implants.
Instead of performing a three-level spinal fusion, Dr. Jazini performed the disc replacements, and the patient left with a 30% to 40% increase in spinal motion, the practice said in a June 25 news release. The case also marks the second surgery in the U.S. using Prodisc C-Nova.
“Surgery should never be one-size-fits-all,” Dr. Jazini said in the release. “Our approach carefully considered the patient’s unique anatomy, joint mobility, and bone structure to determine the optimal combination of implants. In this case, we didn’t just avoid limiting the patient’s natural motion; we gave some of it back.”
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
