The scholarship was awarded to Angel Gonzalez, a Jack E. Singley Academy senior.

“At Lumin Health, we’re committed to making a difference in the lives of our patients and our community,” said Dr. Won. “Being a part of this scholarship program is just another way we can give back. We’re honored to recognize young people like Angel, who have great potential but may need a little help as they work to achieve their dreams.”

Here are five key notes:

1. The Dr. Doug Won Scholarship is $1,000 awarded to graduating seniors with academic achievement, financial need and a desire to “give back” to the community.

2. Mr. Gonzalez plans to attend the University of Texas and study engineering after graduating from high school.

3. The scholarship was given as part of the Irving Schools Foundation annual breakfast with the stars. The foundation recognizes hundreds of students annually with scholarships.

4. Lumin Health includes surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care centers and specialty outpatient centers partnering with physicians, healthcare companies and other specialists to deliver healthcare.

5. Lumin Health affiliates include Star Medical Center, Lumin SpineCARE, Lumin OrthoCARE, Lumin PainCARE and LuminCARE.
