Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Behrend has a special interest in minimally invasive spinal procedures, including decompression, discectomy, fusion and revision procedures.
2. In addition to performing cervical spine reconstruction, Dr. Behrend has a special interest in adult scoliosis and deformity surgery. He also works with patients to alleviate pain and reduce disability.
3. Dr. Behrend joined more than 70 physicians already practicing out of 25 locations throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and will see patients in the East Valley region.
4. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Behrend teaches and participates in clinical research focused on patient outcomes, risk reduction and complication prevention. He is also a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society.
5. Prior to joining OrthoArizona, Dr. Behrend completed his medical degree at UC Los Angeles and residency at The University of Rochester (N.Y.). He also underwent a complex spine surgery and spinal trauma fellowship at Rothman Institute in Philadelphia.
