Benjamin Weisenthal, MD, of Knoxville (Tenn.) Orthopaedic Clinic is the first in East Tennessee to perform endoscopic spine surgery, NBC affiliate WBIR reported Nov. 11.
Dr. Weisenthal has performed more than 24 endoscopic spine surgeries so far, and he performed them at the practice’s surgery center.
A former spine surgery patient himself, Dr. Weisenthal said in the report
“I know firsthand how miserable spine surgery can be,” he said. “Now, we’re able to treat patients with this ultra-minimally invasive procedure where most patients go home the same day, and many are able to return to work and other activities within weeks.”
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
