Dr. Andrew G. Chenelle sued after alleged wrong-disc: 5 key points

Coleen Geary is suing Chicago-based Andrew G. Chenelle, MD, in Cook County Circuit Court for allegedly operating on the wrong damaged disc during a spinal surgery performed two years ago, according to CookCountyRecord.

Here are five key points:

 

1. Ms. Geary is also filing a complaint against Northwestern Medicine, Cadence Health, Central DuPage Health, Delnor Community Health System, CDH-Delnor Health System and Cadence Physician Group.

 

2. Dr. Chenelle performed a partial hemilaminectomy and discectomy at Central DuPage Hospital in July 2013.

 

3. Following the surgery, Ms. Geary experienced leg numbness, according to the law suit.

 

4. In June 2015, Ms. Geary received a second opinion from another neurosurgeon who discovered that the two-year-old surgery had been performed on the wrong disc, resulting in a permanent spinal injury.

 

5. Ms. Geary is seeking damages of more than $100,000.
