Dr. Dean practiced orthopedic surgery for more than 50 years and was a founding member of the American Trauma Society. He was a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association and Louisiana State Medical Association, among other professional organizations.
He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. Dr. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, La., for more than 50 years, serving on the Administrative Council and in other church committee positions.
