Decorated surgeon Dr. Peter Costantino joins New York practice — 5 details

Peter Costantino, MD, joined White Plains-based Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York, according to the Fairfield Daily Voice.

What you should know:

1. The addition of Dr. Costantino — an internationally recognized craniofacial and cranial base tumor surgeon — brings BSSNY’s clinical team to 18 surgeons.

2. Along with developing minimally invasive techniques for endoscopic removal of recurrent nasopharyngeal cancer, Dr. Costantino has performed 500-plus cranioplasties primarily using implants he designed.

3. Dr. Costantino established two fellowship programs at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and a third at Mount Sinai Hospital, both in New York City.

4. Dr. Costantino has received the Ben Shuster Basic Research Award and the Ira Tresley Research Awards from the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, as well as the Ralph Millard Award for outstanding basic research from the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation.

5. He is the author of more than 170 peer-reviewed articles, chapters and abstracts.
