Reality television star Abby Lee Miller dropped spine surgeon Hooman Melamed, MD, and neurosurgeon Paul Dwan, MD, as defendants in a medical malpractice lawsuit that seeks $1.4 million, People reported Aug. 25.
The 2025 lawsuit alleged that a catheter was left in Ms. Miller’s body following a 2020 spinal procedure at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
Ms. Miller, who starred on “Dance Moms,” acknowledged that Dr. Melamed and Dr. Dwan were not at fault for the retained foreign object and that claims they left the catheter in her body were “made without factual bases,” according to the report.
Dr. Melamed previously performed emergency spine surgery on Ms. Miller in 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Marina Del Ray (Calif.) Hospital.
