Denver-based AdventHealth Porter was ordered to pay a spine surgery patient almost $3.2 million after he accused employees of dropping him after surgery, the Denver Post reported July 21.

The 82-year-old man filed his lawsuit in Denver District Court, alleging he was dropped when staff tried moving him from a CT scanner platform to a bed, the report said. He had a spinal fusion at the hospital in March 2024 and filed his lawsuit in February.

The fall fractured his spine and required an additional surgery, the lawsuit said.

A jury made their ruling in the case on July 18, the report said.

A statement from AdventHealth Porter said, “Patient safety remains a top priority, and we are committed to providing safe, compassionate whole-person care to everyone we serve,” the Denver Post reported.
