Collaborative Spine Research Foundation Appoints Surgeon Board

Nine spine surgeons and specialists have been named to the Collaborative Spine Research Foundation board, according to a Collaborative Spine news release.

The board consists of an equal number of orthopedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons as well as a physician from a third medical specialty:

•    Ray Baker, MD
•    Charles Branch Jr., MD, FAANS
•    Zoher Ghogawala, MD, FAANS
•    Richard Haynes, MD
•    James Heckman, MD
•    Paul McCormick, MD, MPH, FAANS, FACS
•    Peter Rose, MD
•    Christopher Shaffrey, MD, FAANS
•    Jeffrey Wang, MD

The board, chaired by Dr. Heckman, has four key responsibilities:

•    Establishment of grant and award criteria;
•    Establishment and enforcement of conflict-of-interest standards;
•    Recruitment of qualified, independent peer-review teams;
•    Development of strategies to secure financial support from spine-care stakeholders.
