The study includes patients who underwent ACDF or anterior corpectomy and fusion in 2011 who were included in the American College of Surgeon’s National Quality Improvement database. The researchers found 2.5 percent readmission rate among the patients, with 8.5 percent having pulmonary complications, 8.5 percent having wound complications and 8.5 percent having urinary tract infections.
The predictors of readmission include:
• Older age
• Diabetes
• Hypertension
• Preoperative stay
