Eleven of the hospital’s beds will be converted into a unit exclusively for spine patients and will be part of an upcoming integrated spine service program, the report said. Catholic Health will be part of a referral network offering spine care.

The center of excellence also includes an IT upgrade to implement postoperative monitoring, and an existing operating room will be converted to facilitate spine procedures.

Five spine surgeons and three physiatrists from Long Island Spine Specialists in Commack, N.Y., are helping develop the program.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
