California spinal tumor program earns Joint Commission gold seal

Santa Barbara (Calif.) Cottage Hospital’s brain and spinal tumor program has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Brain Tumor Certification, according to a July 15 report from NoozHawk.

SBCH is the first facility in California to earn the certification, and one of just six certified programs in the U.S. 

The seal recognizes healthcare organizations that provide clinical programs across the continuum of brain tumor care and use clinical outcomes and performance metrics to identify opportunities to improve care. 

The certification wasearned following a review of the program’s clinical practice guidelines and performance measures.
