1. Dr. Michelson is a retired surgeon with more than 340 U.S. patents for spine and orthopedic surgical instruments. According to Forbes, his net worth is $1.7 billion as of Feb. 16. He became a billionaire in 2005 after reaching a $1.35 billion settlement with Medtronic.
2. Dr. Michelson earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia, according to LinkedIn.
3. Dr. Michelson is a philanthropist and founded organizations to support education access, animal welfare and global research, according to his website.
4. He and his wife also own a smaller home in Brentwood worth about $4.8 million. It’s unclear if that property will go on the market.
