Here are five things to know:
1. Services at the new Brain and Spine Center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Plano include brain tumor surgery, neuromodulation, complex spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, stroke care, epilepsy treatment and peripheral nerve disorder treatment.
2. The neurosurgeons and neuro-interventional radiologists at the hospital have access to the StealthStation for surgical navigation of their procedures.
3. The center includes an intensive care unit with a new epilepsy monitoring unit.
4. The center’s bed count jumped from 16 to 32 beds with the service expansion.
5. Baylor Scott & White-Plano decided to add the brain and spine center due to feedback from the community needing additional services for complex neurological and neurosurgical disorders.
