Autopsy reveals Prince accidentally overdosed on opioids: 5 things to know

An autopsy revealed musician Prince died from an accidental opioid overdose on April 21, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Chief Medical Examiner A. Quinn Strobl, MD, performed the autopsy on April 22.

 

2. The autopsy revealed Prince died from overdosing on the painkiller, fentanyl. The report notes he administered the drug, himself, but that it is unclear when Prince took the drug. 

 

3. In early April, Prince canceled several concerts, noting he had the flu.

 

4. Prince was found dead in his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, Minn.

 

5. Prince was 57 years old.
