Twenty-three hospitals in the U.S. currently hold this designation, three of which are under Atrium Health’s network, according to a July 18 news release. The Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center was recertified in 2023, while Atrium Health Cabarrus received its certification in 2022.

The Joint Commission’s advanced spine surgery certification recognizes facilities for providing safe and quality patient care. The certification focuses on the surgical flow process and is based on several performance measures, including surgical site infection rates and new neurological deficits.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
