AdventHealth opened AdventHealth Medical Group Neurosurgery at Port Charlotte, Fla., bringing brain and spine care to patients across Charlotte County and surrounding areas.

The Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based health system said the new practice addresses a gap in local access to neurosurgical care. Charlotte County residents previously could face drives of more than an hour to see a neurosurgeon, according to an Aug. 17 news release.

The practice, led by neurosurgeon Amrith Jamoona, MD, treats brain tumors, aneurysms, stroke-related conditions and spinal disorders. Dr. Jamoona recently relocated to Port Charlotte after recognizing the need for more neurosurgical services in the region, according to the release.

The practice offers surgical and nonsurgical treatments, including minimally invasive procedures, deep brain stimulation, endovascular neurosurgery, brain tumor surgery and spinal surgery.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
