Adena Orthopedic and Spine Institute is now offering the TELIGEN system for spinal surgeries, according to a Nov. 6 news release from Adena Health.

Here are five things to know:

  1. Blake Walker, MD, a neurosurgeon with Adena, was among the first in Ohio to use the TELIGEN system.
  2. The system can be utilized during spine procedures to provide relief of back and leg pain.
  3. A miniature camera attached to a flexible wire is inserted into a small incision, which gives the surgeon a better, clearer view of the spine.
  4. The approach is less invasive, is more precise and shortens recovery time compared to traditional spine surgery, according to Dr. Walker.
  5. Adena Orthopedic and Spine Institute recently earned a renewal of its advanced certification in spine surgery from The Joint Commission, making it one of two facilities in Ohio with the designation.
