AANS, ThinkFirst Promote Youth Traumatic Head Injury Prevention

The American Association of Neurological Surgeons and ThinkFirst have joined with Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow to promote head injury prevention among children, according to a Newswise report.

The efforts include promoting bike helmet awareness among young children. A recent event held in Colorado cautioned children about the risks of sustaining concussions and provided free bicycle helmets to participants. There were an estimated 446,788 sports-related head injuries and 85,389 bicycle related head injuries treated in hospital emergency rooms in 2009.
