ISASS Creates Coding and Reimbursement Task Force to Advocate for Spine Surgeons

Spine

The International Society for Advancement of Spine Surgery has created a new Coding and Reimbursement Task Force to advocate for spine surgeons, according to an ISASS news release. The organization is halfway through the three-year process to gain admittance to the AMA House of Delegates, which could provide official participation in AMA Process and Relative Values Committee.  As spine surgeons experience an increase in denials and reduced reimbursements, ISASS feels it is necessary to provide ample representation of spine surgeon interests when coding and valuation decisions are made.

The Task Force will direct society advocacy efforts toward commercial payors and technology assessment forums, according to the release. The organization is currently seeking members to participate in the Task Force.
