Good Samaritan Hospital adds spine navigation

San Jose, Calif.-based Good Samaritan Hospital added surgical navigation and imaging technology for spine surgery, according to a Nov. 12 news release shared with Becker's.

The system was used for the first time on Nov. 8, the release said. It uses real-time 3D mapping and can reduce procedure times by up to two-thirds.

"This technology is a game changer for spine surgery," Edward Rustamzadeh, MD, a spine surgeon at the hospital, said in the release. "It improves safety, shortens surgery times, and helps achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients."
