Holyoke (Mass.) Medical Center opened The Institute for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, the hospital said in a news release shared with Becker's.

Frederik Pennings, MD, PhD, is leading the new center, according to the April 24 news release. He is the only spine fellowship-trained neurosurgeon in the region, and he has more than 25 years of experience. Before joining Holyoke Medical Center, Dr. Pennings established the minimally invasive spine program at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.

Holyoke Medical Center's minimally invasive spine program will address conditions including spinal stenosis, scoliosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis and cervical and lumbar disc herniation.
