Here are five things to know about Dr. Hornyak:
1. He previously served as chief of neurosurgery at Detroit Receiving Hospital and was an assistant professor at Wayne State University.
2. As a general neurosurgeon, Dr. Hornyak treats a variety of brain, spine and peripheral nerve conditions and disorders. He has a special interest in intracranial tumors and other brain lesions.
3. In his new role, Dr. Hornyak will also see patients at the Surgical Outpatient Clinic in Cooperstown, Oneonta Surgical Specialties and Herkimer Health Center.
4. Dr. Hornyak is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
5. He earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore and completed his residency in neurosurgery at New York Medical College in Valhalla. His additional training includes a fellowship in skull base surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
